Become a Controller
Progress through three rating levels, from ground control to full approach radar. Each level unlocks new responsibilities and brings you closer to mastering ATC.
S1
Delivery & Ground
- Issue IFR/VFR clearances
- Manage all ground traffic and taxi routes
- Coordinate with tower for runway crossings
Requirement: Automatic on sign-up — start training immediately.
S2
Tower & Departure
- All S1 privileges
- Issue takeoff and landing clearances
- Control tower and departure frequencies
- Manage VFR circuits and wake-turbulence separation
Requirement: Hold S1 for 30 days with 50 logged hours on GND/DEL.
S3
Approach & Control
- All S1 + S2 privileges
- Sequence arrivals and vector departures
- Provide full radar separation in terminal airspace
- Eligible to become a trainer after 3 months
Requirement: Hold S2 for 60 days with 100 logged TWR/DEP hours.
Become a Trainer
After holding your S3 rating for 3 months, you become eligible to apply as a controller trainer. Train the next generation of GeoFS controllers and help shape the community.
